Cross Country Travels to Blue Ridge Open

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-In Campbell's final tune-up before the Big South Conference Championships, the Camels will head to Boone, N.C. for the Blue Ridge Open, hosted by Appalachian State on Friday.

The meet will consist of 26 teams competing in four races at the ASU State Farm Fields. Action will begin with the Women's Gold 5K at 3 p.m., followed by the Men's Gold 8K at 3:45. The Women's Open 5K and the Men's Open 8K will round out the day at 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., respectively.

Last time out, the Campbell women took eighth while the men placed ninth at the Charlotte Invitational.

Senior Rachel Deline led the CU women, placing 27th with a time of 18:02.91, a 5K personal best. Junior Cynthia Navarro recorded a mark of 18:09.36, taking 29th, also a personal record. Deline's mark was the fourth best all-time in Campbell history, while Navarro's time was sixth in the CU record books.

Junior DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel paced the men's unit with a personal best 8K time of 25:18.42. The mark pushes Nicol-Samuel into a tie for seventh in the Campbell all-time performance list.

The meet is the Camels' last before heading to Conway, S.C. for the Big South Championships on Oct. 29.
