Camel Harriers Head to Charlotte Invitational

2011 Charlotte Invitational informantion

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-After taking a week break from competition, Campbell cross country travels to the Charlotte Invitational, Friday, Sep. 30. 

The meet will consist of 43 women's and 36 men's teams at McAlpine Creek Park in the Queen City. The race will kick off at 4 p.m. with the women's 5,000 meter championship A race, followed by the men's 8K championship A race at 4:45. Women's and men's B races will begin at 5:15 and 5:45 p.m., respectively.

Last time out, both the CU men's and women's teams took third place finishes in the Coastal Carolina Invitational / Big South Preview. Senior Rachel Deline led the women's team, placing 13th overall, while junior DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel finished eighth in the men's contest.

Deline has collected one win so far this season, taking the Campbell Invitational title, and posted a runner-up finish in the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. Ashley Matthews, Samantha Robbins and Laura Verschuren have also recorded top-5 performances for the Camels.

On the men's side, Nicol-Samuel also has an win to his credit, taking the Seahawk Invitational crown. Morgan Timiney, Chris Schulist and Eric Baldwin have all placed in the top-10 in races this season as well.

Next up for the Camels will be the Blue Ridge Open, hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. on Oct. 14.
