Men’s & Women’s Teams Take Third at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C.-Both Campbell's men's and women's cross country teams took third place finishes Saturday at the Coastal Carolina Invitational / Big South Preview at Quail Creek Golf Club, the 2011 home of the conference's championship race.
Each Camel unit placed four harriers in the top-25 of their respective races. Campbell junior DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel paced the men's team with an eighth place finish, while senior Rachel Deline led the women's team, coming in 13th.
Liberty claimed the men's race with Duke taking the overall women's team title. Junior Zac Edwards of Liberty was the individual winner on the men's side, while Duke's Suejin Ahn, a senior, took the women's race.
Nicol-Samuel recorded a time of 25:35.00 in the 8K men's race, while sophomore Morgan Timiney took 13th with a 25:58.00 mark. Freshman Evan Darm placed 15th, just behind Timiney with a time of 26:05.00. Chris Schulist and Clayton Woll, meanwhile, placed 24th and 28th, respectively, with times of 26:54.00 and 27:06.00.
Deline's time of 18:40.00 in the women's 5K run put the Belleville, Ontario just ahead of teammate Cynthia Navarro, who claimed 14th with a time of 18:46.00. Sophomore Ashley Matthews posted a mark of 18:53.00 in 19th place. Sophomore Samantha Robbins registered a time of 18:57.00 for 22nd, while junior Laura Verschuren placed 26th with her 19:10.00 time.
Next up for the Camels will be the Charlotte Invitational on Sep. 30.
