CHARLESTON, S.C.-Meredith Foster led three Bulldogs in double figures as fourth seeded UNC Asheville eliminated No. 5 Campbell 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-18) Thursday afternoon in quarterfinal action of the Big South Championship.
Asheville improved to 15-13 on the season, while the Camels finish the year 13-18. With the win, the Bulldogs advance to play No. 1 Liberty Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Foster posted 15 kills on 20 swings with only a pair of errors to lead Asheville, adding three blocks. Cindi Miller and Anna Moore also notched 14 and 13 kills, respectively, with Miller tacking on 11 digs. Holly Shelton also recorded eight kills, while Alex Stewart and Hallie Morse combined for 28 digs. Morse also chipped in 37 assists.
Junior Jordan Reaves and freshman Brooke Kelley led CU with eight kills apiece. Senior middle Annie Kobeski registered five kills to go along with three blocks. Senior Lauren Garza posted a team-high 10 digs in the loss, while Kelsey Campbell, another CU senior, added seven.
The Bulldogs came out hitting .265 (13-4-34) as a unit in the first, led by six scores from Miller, to take a 25-14 win. In the second, Asheville upped its rate to .485 (19-3-33), with Foster picking up a nine kill set in a 25-15 win. The trio of Foster, Miller and Morse also closed out the match with another five kills each in a 25-18 win.
