RADFORD, VA.-Campbell erased a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set, but fell at Radford 3-2 (15-25, 16-25, 25-10, 25-22, 10-15) Saturday in Big South volleyball play.
Radford moves to 13-14 overall and 7-5 in Big South matches, while Campbell falls to 12-16 on the year and 5-7 in conference.
Rachel Wiechecki posted a match-high 14 kills to go along with seven digs to lead the Highlanders, while Megan McWhorter posted 13 kills and 13 digs with two blocks in the win. Emily Hayes and Jesse Miedema tacked on 11 and nine kills, respectively.
Leigh Myers and Christine Beckham combined for 54 assists. Rachel Brummitt registered 25 digs on the night.
Junior outside hitter Jordan Reaves collected her ninth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs. Lindsey Coats, a sophomore middle, posted nine kills on 15 attempts with only one error, hitting .533. The Dunn, N.C. native also totaled five blocks in the loss. Fellow middle, senior Annie Kobeski, tallied eight kills and four blocks.
Radford jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the match with 25-15 and 25-16 victories, posting 30 kills in the first two frames, including 16 in the second frame. Wiechecki and Hayes gathered nine and eight kills, respectively, through the first to stanzas to lead the Highlanders.
The Camels bounced back in the third with a 25-10 win, hitting .500 as a unit with 10 kills on 20 attempts with no miscues, paced by three scores from Reaves.
In the fourth, Coats helped the Camels pull even in the match with four kills and two blocks in a 25-22 decision. Reaves tacked on another four scores in the set with four digs.
The Highlanders took the deciding set 15-10, as Wiechecki and McWhorter chipped in three kills each.
The Camels will wrap up the regular season next weekend in Buies Creek, hosting Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina.
