CHARLESTON, S.C.-Four Buccaneers reached double figures to lead Charleston Southern past visiting Campbell 3-1 (25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 17-25) in Big South play Saturday night, ending the Camels' five-match winning streak.
Charleston Southern improves to 4-15 on the year and 1-3 in conference matches, while Campbell falls to 9-10 and 2-1 in Big South play.
Wynter Davis led the Bucs with a match-high 15 kills, while Erin Lavenice posted 12. Both notched a .458 hitting rate in the win. Kayla Klinger added 10 kills and six aces with 12 digs. Amy Nokes tacked on a triple-double with 32 assists, 11 kills and 13 digs.
Kirsten Struksnes gathered 23 assists, while Ashley Higginbothem totaled 13 digs for CSU.
Junior outside hitter Jordan Reaves led Campbell with 12 kills and nine digs, also matching a career-high with five blocks. Senior middle Annie Kobeski recorded 11 kills, recording double figure kills for the fourth time in five matches. The Palm Beach, Fla. native added five blocks in the loss.
Junior middle blocker Kelsey Marek tallied eight kills and four blocks, hitting .462 (8-2-13). The clip marks the fifth time the Taylor, Texas native has hit .400 or better this season. Freshman right side Lorin Thomas tallied seven kills and two blocks.
Heather Wilson, a sophomore setter, posted 36 assists with five digs. Senior libero Kelsey Campbell added 22 digs. Wilson has now hit 30 or more assists six times while Campbell has posted two 20-plus digs nights this season. Freshman Mallorie Cubillos also posted 11 digs on the night.
The Camels return home for their next five matches, beginning the home stand next weekend with Radford (Oct. 7, 7 p.m.) and Liberty (Oct. 8, 5 p.m.).
