Wisconsin Downs Volleyball, 3-0

RALEIGH, N.C.-Crystal Graff totaled a match-high 12 kills to lead Wisconsin past Campbell 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-18) in the NC State Raleigh Midtown Classic Friday inside Reynolds Coliseum.

Wisconsin moves to 2-2 on the season, while Campbell falls to 2-3. The Camels are now 0-3 all-time against Big Ten opponents. It was the first meeting between Wisconsin and Campbell.

Graff, a freshman outside hitter, recorded her 12 scores on 24 attempts with only one error and added nine digs in the win. Senior setter Janelle Gabrielsen tallied 19 assists and eight kills, while sophomore libero Annemarie Hickory added 18 digs for the Badgers.

Leading Campbell was junior outside hitter Jordan Reaves with eight kills and six digs. Freshman right side hitter Brooke Kelley added four kills, while sophomore setter Heather Wilson registered 18 assists, five digs and three kills. Freshman defensive specialist Mallorie Cubillos posted a team-high seven digs.

Tied at seven in the first set, the Badgers posted five-straight points, sparking a 13-3 Wisconsin run to take a 20-10 lead. The Camels surged late behind a pair of Reaves kills, but fell 25-17.  Kelley led CU with three kills in the first, while Wilson added seven assists and a pair of scores. Alexis Mitchell paced the Badgers with five kills.

Wisconsin claimed a 25-13 win in the second, leading by as many as 11 in the frame. Gabrielsen notched four kills on five attempted for the Badgers in the set, while Reaves tallied three for the Camels.

Campbell jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the third, but the Badgers knotted the set at 14-all and finished on an 11-4 run to sweep the match. Crystal Graff added seven kills in the final frame for the Badgers while Reaves tacked on three for CU.

The Camels will face Western Carolina tonight at 7:30 p.m. on the NC State campus. Campbell will play in a pair of matches tomorrow, taking on North Carolina A&T at 2 p.m. and NC State at 7 p.m.
