Campbell defeats UNC Asheville 4-3 for 3rd-straight victory

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell won the doubles point; then split the singles matches Friday in a 4-3 women's tennis victory over UNC Asheville at the Nisbet Tennis Center.

The Camels (7-10, 5-2) extended their winning streak to 3 matches thanks to straight-sets singles victories by Karolina Chernaya, Natasha Afridi and Lourdes Ros.

Chernaya teamed with Tamara Stanic for an 8-2 victory over Asheville's Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero at the top doubles team.  The Camel tandem improved to 5-2 at the top doubles post.

Ros and Ewa Telenga earned an 8-5 victory at the third doubles position to secure the point.

Hamel claimed a super-tie break at the first singles position after splitting sets with Stanic.  Rivero and Christine Boissevain added singles wins for Asheville (8-8, 2-4).

Campbell returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Winthrop at 1:30 p.m.
