Liberty Edges Women’s Tennis 4-3

Lynchburg, Va. – Karolina Chernaya, Natasha Afridi, and Borislava Nikolova picked up singles victories, but Campbell fell 4-3 to Liberty Friday afternoon. Chernaya is a team best 10-4 in singles play for the Camels (9-5, 1-4).

Chernaya knocked off Alexandria Sheeran (6-4, 6-2) in the one position. The Tashkent, Uzbekistan native is 4-1 in her last five matches.

Afridi snapped a two match losing streak by defeating Brittany Yang in the three spot (6-2, 6-0). The Tokyo, Japan native is 8-4 this season.

 Nikolova earned a point for the Camels by beating Carol Lobel (6-1, 6-3) in the three spot. The senior from Sofia, Bulgaria is 8-6 this season.

Chernaya and Nikolova improved to a team best 11-1 in doubles play by knocking off Cameron Richard and Yang (8-4) in the one spot. The duo is currently riding a nine match winning streak.

The Flames earned singles victories in the two, five, and six singles spots and captured the doubles point to pick up the close victory.

The Camels finish up their two match Big South road trip tomorrow morning against Radford. Match time is set for 11:00 am.
