Women's Soccer Players Have Success with Club Teams

Seniors Taylor Brown (Raleigh, N.C.) and Ryann Torrero (Burbank, Calif.) made it to the United Soccer League (USL) final four this weekend at the Algonquin College Soccer Complex in Ottawa. Brown's club team, DC United was the second seed, but lost to third seed Ottawa Fury 0-1 in the quarterfinals.  Torrero's team, top-ranked Pali Blues defeated the fourth seed Quebec City Amiral 2-0 to reach the championship.  Pali fell to Ottawa on penalty kicks in the final. Brown and DC United defeated Quebec City on penalty kicks in the consolation game.

Three other Fighting Camels having success with their club team are sophomores Ashley Clark and Bailee Johnston, both of Cary, N.C., and incoming freshman Cydney Smith of Apex, N.C.  The three compete with Triangle Futbol Club and were named Super-Y conference champions.

Sophomores Alexis Prada (Laurel, Md.) and Michelle Procaccini's (Olney, Md.) teams have also won titles during the summer break. Prada and the Bethesda Dragons won the USYSA Maryland State Cup, beating Freestate Soccer 3-0. Procaccini's Women's Premier Soccer League team, the Maryland Capitols, were the WPSL Northeast Atlantic – South conference champions.
