BUIES CREEK – The Campbell University women's soccer team has been named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America team academic award winner for the team's GPA during the 2010-11 academic year.
The recognition marks the sixth consecutive year that the Fighting Camel women's soccer team has earned this distinction, which is given to each team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The 2010 team posted a stellar 3.37 GPA during last year.
After the 2010 season, the Camels placed 19 team members on the Atlantic Sun's All-Academic team. Campbell received more academic recognition this season, when Taylor Brown was named as Campbell's representative to the Big South Conference All-Academic team at the conference award's presentation.
The 2011 Camel team tied a program record with fifteen wins, matching the wins total from the 1995 squad. Campbell went 7-1-2 during its return to the Big South Conference, finishing one point out of first place in the regular season and advancing to the conference tournament championship match.
