BUIES CREEK - Campbell continues its Big South Conference road swing on Thursday night as the team travels to High Point. The Camels (9-3-1, 3-0-1 BSC) will face a HPU team (5-8-2, 3-1-1 BSC) that defeated Liberty on Tuesday night by a 1-0 score. The Camels will be looking to get back into the win column after finishing last Saturday's match with a 2-2 draw at Presbyterian.
The Panthers are the two-time defending Big South tournament champions, winning all three matches in last year's championship by identical 1-0 scores. The Panthers were one of five teams to tie for the regular season championship in 2010 with a 6-2-1 league record. High Point lost to Francis Marion 2-1 and defeated Towson 2-1 earlier this season in a reversal of outcomes that CU had with the same two non-conference opponents.
After the visit to High Point, Campbell will head north to Lynchburg, Va. to prepare for a Saturday night contest with the Liberty Flames. LU sits at 5-5-3 overall, 2-2-1 in the Big South after Tuesday's loss at HPU. Liberty holds a 3-1 victory over Valparaiso, a 3-2 overtime loss at Winthrop and a scoreless draw against Gardner-Webb on its resume against common opponents with the Camels.
After finishing the stretch of three consecutive conference road matches, the Camels will return home on Thursday, October 20th to face Coastal Carolina at 5 p.m. The Coastal match will begin a stretch that will see Campbell play three of its final four regular season matches at the Eakes Athletic Complex on the Buies Creek campus.
