Two Campbell University women's soccer players have received publicity from a national soccer publication, Top Drawer Soccer, for being ranked among the top 20 players in the Big South Conference.
Kirsty Meyer (Fredericksburg, Va.) is listed 13th on the rankings and Ashley Clark (Cary, N.C.) ranks third on the charts. Meyer, a redshirt junior and co-captain for the 2011 Camel squad, has three goals and one assist from her midfield position through the nine match non-conference schedule. Meyer has started all 48 matches during her CU career.
Clark, a freshman forward, is currently tied for first in goals scored (six) and points (14) among the Big South statistical leaders. She also leads the conference in game-winning goals with four, the most recent one coming in Campbell's 2-1 victory over IUPUI at the Crusader Classic. Clark has twice been named the Big South's Attacker of the Week for her efforts.
The rankings were formulated by collaboration with Division I soccer coaches across the country, from looking at all-conference honorees during last season and from analyzing statistics thus far in the 2011 season.
