Fighting Camels Return Home to Face Gardner-Webb Monday
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell returns home Monday night after two road matches to take on Gardner-Webb in their fourth Southern Conference match of the season. The Fighting Camels (3-6, 2-1 SoCon) and the Runnin' Bulldogs (4-6, 2-2 SoCon) will square off at 7:00 p.m in Gore Arena.
The Fighting Camels: Campbell enters the dual after defeating The Citadel Wednesday 25-13, to move to 2-1 in SoCon action. The victory snapped a nine-match skid against the Bulldogs dating back to the 2002-03 season.
No. 28 Eric Montoya leads the Camels with 26 wins this season, after winning three-straight conference matches. The freshman is the only Camel ranked in the NCAA coaches' poll this week with a season record of 26-10 at 125 pounds.
The Runnin' Bulldogs: Gardner-Webb is coming off a 19-12 win over VMI Friday to move to 2-2 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs' other win was over Davidson, 29-6. The team fell to Appalachian State 21-19 and to SIUE 24-21 early in the season.
The Bulldogs used six wins in the victory over VMI, including a mojor decision from 125 pounder Cortez Starkes, who is 1-1 in the SoCon.
