Campbell Grapplers Drop Three Matches in N.C. State Duals
RALEIGH, N.C. Elliot Berger won two bouts and Brian Hocum earned one victory, but the Campbell Grapplers dropped three matches in the North Carolina State Duals Saturday afternoon.
The Camels dropped matches to Duke (47-0), Appalachian State (40-3) and Anderson College (34-11) on the afternoon, dropping their record to 0-5 in dual matches.
The most successful match of the day for the Camels was against Anderson College. CU dropped the match 34-11, but had two individuals Elliot Berger and Brian Hocum earn wins. Berger's win was a technical fall (17-2) 5:33 seconds into his bout with Michael Sanders. Hocum pinned Careef Robertson in 3:37 to earn his victory.
Berger, a junior from North Canton, Ohio, notched the Camels only win against Appalachian State when he defeated Terreyl Williams 12-7.
Host school, North Carolina State took two of its three bouts on the day, while North Dakota swept through its three matches to run its winning streak to 23.
The N.C. State Duals
were CU's first action in 49 days. The Camels will have another 10
days off before returning to the mat to host Gardner-Webb on
Tuesday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Carter Gym.
