Fayetteville Observer: Veteran coach has Campbell in NCAAs
Campbell golf coach John Crooks has directed the Camels to 120 tournament titles, including 75 with the women's team. That total ranks second among active Division I women's coaches, trailing only the 118 by Duke's Dan Brooks. Crooks defines victories differently.

NCAA Championship preview: head coach John Crooks
Under the direction of 23-year head coach John Crooks, Campbell won the Big South Conference championship by 30 strokes last month. The Camels then finished eighth in the NCAA East Regional May 8-10 at SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla., to secure the program’s first national tournament berth since 1997.

There are winners in college golf, and then there’s John Crooks. A 30-stroke victory at the Big South Conference championship on (Apr. 15) gave the Campbell coach his 120th college title. That’s 75 for the women’s program and 45 on the men’s side.

Kaylin Yost was named Big South women’s golfer of the year. She was joined on the all-conference team by Lisbeth Brooks, Tahnia Ravnjak and Ali Prazak. Louise Latorre was named to the all-freshman team, while Brooks earned all-academic team honors.

Michelle Koh named Big South Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week
Michelle Koh of Campbell University has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for events played Oct. 20-26. Koh earned her fourth top-15 individual finish (and third top-10) of the season when she tied for ninth at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Oak Point Golf Club. The showing was her seventh career top-10 finish.

Brooks is tied for 10th place, while Bellomy is tied for 19th in the 96-player event hosted by New Mexico at the UNM Championship Course.

Golfweek.com: Program Challenge ends in unprecedented fashion
Yes, Campbell and East Carolina tied, rather improbably, for the Program Challenge crown, each school shooting a cumulative, 54-hole score of 1,716. So, rather than name co-champions, and with less than a 5-hour bus ride back to campus, each school selected a male and female to play off for the title at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club. More intriguing: It would be sudden-death alternate shot.

Michelle Koh finished sixth overall and Campbell placed third in the team standings following Tuesday’s final round of the Golfweek Program Challenge women’s tournament at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club. A senior from Kuantan, Malaysia, Koh shot 72-72-75—219 to finish at six-over-par on the par-71, 2003-yard layout and earn her sixth career top-10 individual finish.
