Four Camels in top-10; Campbell wins JMU Eagle Landing Invitational

ORANGE PARK, FLA. – Lisbeth Brooks matched her collegiate career low round and Campbell won its fifth women's golf tournament of the season following Sunday's final day of the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational.

Brooks fired a 5-under-par 67 on Sunday and tied for second individually (76-72-67--215) at one-under in the 96-player field.  The 2012 Big South Conference freshman of the year had 6 birdies and 11 pars on the par-72, 6282-yard Eagle Landing Country Club layout.

A sophomore from Waunakee, Wisc., Brooks posted her best collegiate finish and her second top-10 result in the last week after a sixth-place showing at the Kiawah Island Classic.

Freshman Tahnia Ravnjak also produced her best collegiate finish (6th place) with a two-over 218 (70-71-77), while Brooke Bellomy (T7th, 76-74-70--220) and Teresa Urquizu (T9th, 72-76-73--221) also finished among the top-10 individuals.

Ranked 36th in the latest Golfstat NCAA head-to-head ratings, Campbell shot a one-under-par 287 Sunday and won the 17-school event by 21 strokes.  The Camels finished the event at plus-six 870 (293-290-287).  Mississippi State (300-298-293--891) was second and East Carolina (302-289-306--897) third in the 17-team event.

Junior Kaylin Yost tied for 26th (75-73-79--227) at the event, where she collected her first collegiate victory a year ago.  Playing as individuals, Maria Jose Benavides (76-78-75—229) and Babette Lemberger (80-83-81—244) finished 36th and 87th, respectively.

Campbell's team title was its second of the week and fourth in the squad's last five tournaments.  The Camels closed the fall season with victories at the Fighting Camel Classic and the Palmetto Intercollegiate.  After a 7th-place showing last month at the Miami Hurricane Invitational, Campbell won the Kiawah Island Classic in addition to the JMU event in a week-long span.

The title was the 69th of head coach John Crooks' tenure in charge of the Campbell women's program. He stands 4th all-time (2nd among active coaches) in NCAA Division I women's golf tournament coaching victories.

Campbell continues its spring campaign Mar. 25-26 at the Briar's Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C.
