Camels remain in 3rd place after two rounds of John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate

STOCKBRIDGE, GA. – Lisbeth Brooks, Michelle Koh and Brooke Bellomy are tied for ninth place and Campbell remains third on the team leader board after the first two rounds Monday of the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate women's golf tournament.

Heading into Tuesday's final round, the Camel trio is eight strokes behind individual leader Sian Evans of East Tennessee State (72-67--139).  ETSU teammate Gabriella Wahl is second (70-70--140). 

Campbell (296-296--592) enters the final 18 holes tied with Mississippi State (289-303--592) tied for 3rd place in the 11-school field.  ETSU (296-289--585) holds a 3-stroke edge over Maryland (295-293--588) atop the leader board.

Final round tee times begin Tuesday at 8:40 a.m.   Campbell starts at 9:30 a.m. paired with ETSU and Maryland.  Live scoring is available on-line at Golfstat.com.

A freshman from Waunakee, Wisc., Brooks had 5 birdies during Monday's 36 holes and stands at 3-over-par 147 (72-75). 

Koh, a senior from Kuantan, Malaysia, made 3 birdies in the second round (73-74) and seven for the day, while Bellomy, a freshman from Ona, W.Va., shot two birds in her even-par round Monday afternoon (75-72).

Sophomore Kaylin Yost of Pembroke Pines, Fla., is tied for 22nd (76-75--151), while junior Teresa Urquizu from San Sebastian, Spain is tied for 53rd (87-76--163).

Playing as an individual, sophomore Maria Jose Benavides shot 76-78--154 and is tied for 32nd place heading into the final round.

Six teams in the field – Campbell (60), ETSU (67), Furman (78), Georgia State (66), Maryland (59) and Mississippi State (92) – are rated among the nation's top 100 Division I programs in the latest Golfstat NCAA head-to-head rankings.

Campbell (1993, 1997, 1998, 2004) and host Georgia State (2001, 2008, 2009, 2010) have both won the tournament four times, most among participating schools.  Four Camel golfers – Janet Wooten (1993), Mara Larrauri (1997), Kylie Pratt (1998) and Sofia Gorelik (2003) have earned medalist honors.

Following this week's event, Campbell will play in the Big South Conference Championship Apr. 9-11 at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
