Kaylin Yost named Big South Conference women's golfer of the week

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Following her second top-five finish of the year, Kaylin Yost of Campbell University has been named Big South Conference women's golfer of the week.

A sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Fla., Yost tied for fourth earlier this week at the Hurricane Invitational at the par-71 Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables, Fla.  She shot 78-72-76—226 to help lead Campbell to a fifth-place showing in the 16-school event.

Yost's one-over-par 72 in Monday's second round was one stroke off her collegiate career low (71) that she has twice recorded this year.  Over her last four outings, Yost has produced three top-10 finishes, including a career-best 3rd-place showing at the Fighting Camel Classic, and a top-20 showing.

She has helped lead Campbell to seven top-5 team finishes in eight tournaments during the 2011-12 campaign.  Yost and the Camels play the opening round of the James Madison/Eagle Landing Invitational Friday at Daytona Beach, Fla.

Yost is the fourth Camel to win Big South weekly honors during 2011-12, joining Brooke Bellomy (Sept. 30), Michelle Koh (Oct. 27) and Teresa Urquizu (Nov. 3).

On the year, she has recorded a 75.8 stroke average, second-best on the team.  Campbell enters the JMU Eagle Landing event ranked 58th nationally in the latest Golfstat NCAA head-to-head ratings.
