KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Kaylin Yost and Michelle Koh tied for ninth individually and Campbell placed fourth in the team standings after Monday's final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate women's golf tournament.
Led by individual medalist Fanny Cnops (70-72-67—209), UNC Greensboro (293-290-292—875) won the team title by seven strokes over runner-up Maryland (297-297-288—882). East Tennessee State was third (304-299-281—884), followed by Campbell (295-295-303—893) and Morehead State (306-294-302—902) in the 18-school event.
A sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Fla., Yost produced her second career top-10 finish after shooting an even-par 72 Monday on the 5907-yard Oak Point Golf Club layout. Yost, who matched her collegiate career-low with a 71 in Sunday's opening round, finished the event at six-over-par 222 (71-79-72).
Koh, a senior from Kuantan, Malaysia notched her third-straight top-15 showing of the fall season (75-71-76—222) and her seventh career top-10 finish.
Junior Teresa Urquizu of San Sebastian, Spain began the final round tied for seventh place, but finished in a tie for 23rd at 9-over-par 225 (73-73-79). Freshmen Lisbeth Brooks (76-72-79—227) and Johanne Svendsen (84-81-76—241) tied for 32nd and 71st place, respectively.
The showing marked Campbell's fourth top-4 finish in five tournaments this season. CU won the Xavier LPGA International Invitational (Oct. 7-9), finished third at the Golfweek Program Challenge (Sept. 11-13) and fourth at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic (Oct. 2-4).
Campbell concludes its fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) when it hosts the Fighting Camel Classic at Keith Hills Country Club.
