Emanuel commits to Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell head coach Wanda Watkins announced the signing of Bria Emanuel, who will join the Lady Camels for the 2014-15 season.

Emanuel, a 6-0 forward, has spent the past two years at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. The Dayton, Texas, native will enter CU as a junior.

This season, Emanuel was a starter for the No. 11-ranked Apaches, who compiled a 30-6 overall record.

Under National Junior College Coach of the Year, Trenia Tillis-Jones, Emanuel averaged 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She shot 60.1 pct. from the floor and 72.0 pct. from the stripe. She also averaged 1.1 steals each contest.

"Bria is a physically strong and aggressive post player who really gets after it defensively," Watkins said. "She has maintained an impressive shooting percentage from the floor in an outstanding program at Tyler. She will bring needed experience inside after losing our two senior post players."

The Lady Camels lost starters Roslyn Presley and Ashley James to graduation this year. The two combined for 21.7 points per game and 12.8 rebounds each outing.

"Bria was an instant fit at Campbell and personifies the student-athlete we strive to recruit into our program," Watkins continued. "She plans to be a pre-med major and we anxiously await her arrival along with our four early signees."

In November, Krystal Mangum (Raleigh, N.C.), Summer Price (Beaverdam, Va.), MaKala Rouse (Greensboro, N.C.), and Sarah Smith (Jasper, Ga.) inked early letters of intent to Campbell.

With the addition of Emanuel, the Lady Camels will add three guards and two forwards to the 2014-15 roster.
