Women’s Basketball Recruits Zena Lovette and Jessica Pone Lead West To Victory in East-West Game

BUIES CREEK, N.C.  – Incoming freshmen women's basketball recruits Zena Lovette and Jessica Pone, both from Southwest Guilford High School, each started and led the West to an 82-65 victory over the East in the 2012 North Carolina Coaches' Association East-West All-Star Game on Monday, July 16, at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Lovette started the game and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line on her way to eight points. She filled up the stat sheet with six rebounds (two offensive and four defensive), two assists and two steals in her 20 minutes of game time. Her rebound total was the second most on the squad as were her two steals.

Pone, who was a late addition to the roster and wasn't named until Saturday evening, also started and contributed four points, two rebounds, two blocks and a steal in her 19 minutes.

The West's Paige Love was named the game's MVP after scoring 15 points to aid the winning team to the victory.

"We feel honored to have two of the West starters joining us at Campbell in the fall," head coach Wanda Watkins explained. "We believe they will provide a positive impact on our program here at Campbell and we anxiously await their arrival!"
