Lady Camels Kick off 3-Game Homestand with Liberty

Game Notes: Campbell vs. Liberty

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Campbell puts its unblemished home record on the line Saturday, hosting Big South foe Liberty at 1 p.m. at Gilbert Craig Gore Arena.

The Lady Camels, at 12-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play, are the Big South's only team undefeated at home with a perfect 8-0 record. Campbell has won 17 of its last 19 in Buies Creek, dating back to last season.

Only the 1990-91 and 1997-98 squads began the season 8-0 in program history. In 1990-91, the team finished 12-0 in Carter Gym, while the 1997-98 team went 12-1, falling in its final home game. The Lady Camels' only other unblemished home record came in 1980-81, going 7-0.

Winthrop ended Campbell's three game winning streak in Rock Hill, S.C. in the Lady Camels' last outing, posting a decisive 22-6 run late in the contest to take an 83-73 win. Senior forward Katelyn Bass scored a team-high and career-high 20 points, while Tonisha Baker tallied her team-best sixth double-double of the year.

Senior guard Kate Cloxton, who became the Lady Camels' all-time three-point leader in the game, also collected nine assists. The loss marked just the second time in 12 career games that CU lost when Cloxton registered eight or more assists. Amanda O'Neill also scored a season-high 13 against the Eagles.

Baker leads the Lady Camels on the season at 13.2 points and 6.7 rebounds, ranking 13th and ninth in the Big South, respectively. The junior guard also leads the conference in steals at 2.8 per game while standing seventh in assists per game at 3.3. With 894 points and 430 rebounds, Baker is nearing career milestones.

Bass adds 10.9 points and 5.9 rebounds, while junior forward Jazmine Cooper posts 9.8 points and 5.9 boards. Cloxton also gathers 6.7 points and 5.5 assists per game.

Liberty heads into Buies Creek at 13-7 overall and 8-1 in conference play as winners of seven in a row, all in Big South play. The Flames lead the Big South in field goal percentage (.434), field goal percentage defense (.336), scoring margin (+14.5) and rebounding (48.1), while outrebounding their opponents in 47 consecutive contests.

The duo of Devon Brown and Avery Warley leads Liberty at 17.6 points and 14.1 points per game, also registering 6.9 and 10.8 rebounds, respectively. Warley is just 11 boards shy of the Big South all-time rebound record. Reagan Miller also posts 8.4 points while Danika Dale tallies 7.5 to go with 5.4 rebounds.

Campbell owns an all-time series record of 12-8 against Liberty with a stellar 7-1 mark against the Flames at home. Saturday's meeting will be the first for the two teams in Gore Arena, with the last in Carter Gym coming on Dec. 5, 1998, a 73-69 overtime Campbell win. Liberty took the earlier meeting this season in Lynchburg, Va. 90-61.

After facing the Flames, the Lady Camels will remain at home, hosting Radford on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. Campbell will wrap up the short homestand with High Point on Feb. 11.
