Kyle Helf begins his second year as an assistant track & field coach at Campbell. 

During his first year in Buies Creek, Dave Matthews (weight and hammer throw) and Jessica Dunston (weight throw and shot put) both set two school records under Helf’s direction. Dunston also registered a runner-up finish in the women’s weight throw during the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships.

During the conference’s outdoor championships, Dunston also medaled in the shot put and the hammer throw, taking second and third, respectively. Matthews also picked up a silver in the men’s javelin, while collecting top-5 finishes in two other events. Courtney Raynor placed fourth in the women’s javelin as well.

Helf joined the Camels after a stellar career at the University of Georgia from 2004-08. Helf threw the shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer, earning Georgia Field Athlete of the Year honors in 2007-2008 as well as the UGA Thrower of the Year award in 2006-2007.

He received the SEC Male Field Athlete of the Week on February 12, 2008. Helf earned the Texas Relays Champion in the shot put in 2006-2007. Academically, Helf served as a UGA Roundtable Scholar Athlete from 2006-2008 and was an SEC Academic Honor Roll selection in 2006-2007.

Helf ranks fourth on both the indoor and outdoor UGA all-time shot put lists. He earned a bronze medal in the shot put at the Indoor and Outdoor SEC Championships in 2006 and 2007. Helf qualified for the Indoor and Outdoor NCAA Championships four times in the same event from 2006-2008.

Helf served as an assistant and clinic demonstrator at the UGA Throws Clinic from 2005-2009.  He worked as an intern with UGA Throws Coach Don Babbitt from August 2008-May 2009, also serving as an academic mentor to UGA Athletes from August 2009-December 2009. He then moved on to the throwing coach position at Athens Christian School in February 2010. 

He has one brother and two sisters. His brother, Jeremy, ran cross country and track at CU, winning the Atlantic Sun 10K Championship in 2005.

A native of Alliston, Ontario, Helf currently resides in Lillington.
