Six More School Records Fall On The Second Day of CCSA

ATHENS, Ga.  – Campbell's swimming team continued to compete well on the second day of the CCSA Championships in Athens, Ga. on Friday, Feb. 17. The Camels set six school records during the competition and moved into eighth place with 134 points.

Cornet placed eighth in the finals of the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.99 and was team's highest individual finish. Her time of 1:05.01 in the preliminaries actually broke previous school record of 1:05.30 set by Heidi Shallow during the 2009 CCSA Championships.

The Campbell relay team of freshman Sydney Postmus, Cornet, sophomore Kaitlyn Burnette and freshman Larissa Joassaint finished fourth in the 200 medley relay to rank fourth in the event and set a school-record with a time of 1:46.14.

Sophomore Kylie Warne swam a 4:28.48 in the 400 IM to break the previous mark of 4:29.94 that she set earlier this season.

Burnette was able to swim a 58.18 in the preliminaries of the 100 back to set the school mark. She finished 11th overall in the event in the finals with her time of 58.28. She was also Campbell's highest finish in the 100 butterfly in placing 15th (57.98). She set the school-record in the event with her time of 57.49 in the preliminaries.

The 800 free relay team of freshman Meredith Cooper, junior Kaitlyn Tunstall, Warne and sophomore Cheriesse Campbell set the school mark in their event in a time of 7:37.80.

Cheriesse Campbell was Campbell's highest finisher in the 200 free in finishing 11th overall (1:53.18).

The Camels wrap up competition at the championships on Saturday, Feb. 18. The events that will be contested are the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 butterfly and the 400 free relay.
