Two School Records Fall On First Day of CCSA For Swimming
ATHENS, Ga. – The first day of competition for Campbell at the CCSA Championships in Athens, Ga. on Feb. 16 was highlighted by two school records. The Camels ended the first day of competition at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in ninth place with 40 points.
Cheriesse Campbell swam a time of 5:03.49 in the finals of the 500 to place eighth. Her preliminary time of 4:57.44 was just off her own school record of 4:57.40 that she set at least season's championships. Campbell was an all-conference selection last season in the 1,650 free when she finished third event in the event.
The Camels 200 free relay team of freshman Sydney Postmus, junior Kaitlyn Tunstall, freshman Larissa Joassaint and Cheriesse Campbell swam a 1:37.04 to top the previous school mark of 1:37.13 that was set at last season CCSA Championship. The group's time was seventh-best in the conference in the event.
Sophomore Kylie Warne set an individual school mark in the 200 IM with her time of 2:07.24 in the preliminaries. She finished 12thh overall in the event with a time of 2:07.38 in the finals.
The 400 medley relay team of Postmus, sophomore Charlotte Cornet, Warne and Joassaint swam a 3:55.03, but were disqualified.
The Camels continue competing at the CCSA Championships on Friday with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay on the schedule.
