Swimming Falls To UNC Wilmington, 124-78
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Campbell's swimming team (12-15, 10-8 CCSA) fell to UNC Wilmington by a 124-78 score in the team's final meet of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Seahawk Natatorium. The Camels put together 11 top-three finishes on the afternoon.
Sophomore Cheriesse Campbell won the 200 free with her time of 1:56.04. She also placed second in the 500 free (5:06.80).
Junior Kaitlyn Tunstall was CU's second event winner with her victory in the 1650 free (17:51.83). Freshman Kate Haseley finished second (18:21.74), while fellow freshman Chelsea Lawson placed third (18:30.98).
Sophomore Kylie Warne finished second in the 200 IM (2:11.58) and was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly (59.87).
Freshman Sydney Postmus placed third in the 50 free (25.11) and was also part of the 200 medley relay team along with sophomores Charlotte Cornet and Kaitlyn Burnette plus freshman Larissa Joassaint that won their event (1:50.37).
Cornet also had an individual runner-up ranking in the 100 breast (1:08.07).
Sophomore Marissa Coughlin finished third in the 100 free (55.88).
The Camels will next compete in the CCSA Championships in Athens, Ga. from Feb. 16-18.
