DAVIDSON, N.C. – Campbell's swimming team (12-14, 10-8 CCSA) split the six teams that participated at the CCSA Duals on Saturday, Jan. 28, in Davidson, N.C. The Camels were able to defeat Howard (219-37), North Carolina A&T (217-32) and Radford (192-98). The team fell in the matchups with Davidson (101-193), Georgia Southern (95-199) and Liberty (94-168).
Sophomore Cheriesse Campbell had one of CU's highest finish on the afternoon and placed as the runner-up in the 1000 free (10:35.68).
Fellow sophomore Kylie Warne had a strong overall meet in placing second in the 500 free (5:11.58), third in the 200 butterfly (2:11.95) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:13.19). Warne was also part of the 400 free relay along with sophomore Charlotte Cornet, sophomore Kaitlyn Burnette and freshman Larissa Joassaint that placed fourth (1:51.16).
Cornet had an individual third place ranking in the 200 breast later in the competition (2:29.84) and finished fifth in the 100 breast (1:08.53).
Freshman Sydney Postmus was the team's top finisher in three events. She finished fifth in the 100 back (1:01.34), sixth in the 50 free (25.00) and also sixth in the 200 back (2:12.66). She was also part of the 400 free relay team along with junior Kaitlyn Tunstall, Joassaint and Cheriesse Campbell that was fifth in the event (3:42.51).
Freshman Meredith Cooper finished fifth in the 200 free (1:59.13) with Joassaint ranking sixth in the 100 free (54.89).
The Camels will finish off the regular season and head to Wilmington, N.C. to take on UNC Wilmington next Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m.
