Swimming Falls Twice At North Carolina State

RALEIGH, N.C.  – Campbell's swimming team (8-9, 6-5 CCSA) fell to both North Carolina State (76-192) and College of Charleston (116-161) on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center in Raleigh.

The Camels had eight top-three finishes on the day and were led in defeat by sophomore Cheriesse Campbell. Campbell finished second in the 1000 free (10:34.61) and third in the 200 free (1:57.54) and the 500 free (5:05.34). She was also part of the 200 free relay along with freshman Meredith Cooper, junior Kaitlyn Tunstall, freshman Larissa Joassaint that were the runner-up in their event (1:40.78).

Fellow sophomore Kylie Warne also had a strong day and was the winner in the 200 IM (2:11.76) and third in the 200 butterfly (2:09.47).

Charlotte Cornet finished as the runner-up in the 100 breast (1:09.07). She was also part of the 400 medley relay team along with Kaitlyn Burnette, Warne and Joassaint that finished third (4:03.55).

Next, Campbell's swimming program heads off to the Radford Invitational from Nov. 17-19 in Radford, Va. The three-day meet will be the final one before the team takes a break for the holidays.
