BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell's swimming team (6-6, 4-3 CCSA) fell to Liberty on Friday evening, Nov. 4, by a 151-111 score at the Johnson Aquatic Center.
The Camels had 19 top-three finishes including five individual wins on the day. Sophomore Cheriesse Campbell started her day by singing the National Anthem and earned individual victories in the 1000 free (10:30.07) and the 500 free (5:09.68). Her time in the 1000 free was a school record. She was third in the 200 fly (2:15.33 and was also part of the 200 free relay team along with junior Kaitlyn Tunstall, sophomore Charlotte Cornet and the freshman Larissa Joassaint that placed third in the event (1:40.18).
Cornet also picked up a pair of individual wins for Campbell in the 100 breast (1:06.82) and the 200 breast (2:25.75).
Fellow sophomore Kylie Warne won the 200 free (1:57.62) and was the runner-up in the 200 fly (2:14.21). Warne was also part of the 200 medley relay team along with Cornet, sophomore Kaitlyn Burnette and Postmus that finished second in their event (1:50.29).
Freshman Sydney Postmus had a busy meet with a runner-up placing in the 200 back (2:10.33) and third in the 200 IM (2:14.75).
Tunstall also had individual success and finished third in both the 1,000 free (11:01.46) and the 100 fly (1:00.23).
Freshman Larissa Joassaint earned a second place ranking in the 1,000 free (54.98) and finished fourth in the 50 free (25.14).
Fellow freshman Meredith Cooper finished second in the 200 breast (2:33.33) and third in the 200 free (1:57.89).
Sophomore Lexi Miller was the runner-up in the 100 breast (1:10.62), while Burnette finished third in the 100 back (1:02.12).
Next, Campbell's swimming program hits the road and travels to Boiling Spring, N.C. to take on Gardner-Webb, VMI and North Carolina A&T at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5
