Swimming Falls To Georgia Southern, 163-74, In CCSA Action
STATESBORO, Ga. – Campbell's swimming team (5-3, 3-1 CCSA) saw the team's four meet win streak snapped by Georgia Southern in a 163-74 loss to the Eagles on Friday, Oct. 28, in Statesboro, Ga.
The Camels were able to earn 13 top-three finishes in the 13 events on the evening with three victories.
Sophomore Cheriesse Campbell led the charge and won the 500 free (5:12.01) and the 1,000 free (10:37.63). She was also part of the 200 free relay team along with freshman Sydney Postmus, junior Kaitlyn Tunstall and freshman Larissa Joassaint that finished as the runner-up in their event (1:39.40).
Tunstall had a pair of top-three individual finishes for the Camels in finishing second in the 100 butterfly (59.95) and third in the 200 free (2:00.25).
Warne placed third in both the 200 IM (2:12.27) and the 100 back (1:01.64).
Postmus also had a pair of individual top three finishes in placing second in the 100 free (54.29) and third in the 50 free (25.10).
Other top finishes for Campbell including freshman Meredith Cooper finishing as the runner-up in the 200 free (1:58.76), Joassaint ranking third in the 100 butterfly (1:00.42) and sophomore Charlotte Cornet finishing second in the 100 breast (1:07.13).
Next, Campbell's swimming program travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on conference rival North Florida at 2 p.m. on Oct. 29.
