Swimming Defeats Radford And Falls to James Madison and Marshall in Opening Meet


Radford, Va. –  Campbell's swimming team (1-2) defeated CCSA conference rival Radford (W, 174-106), but fell to both Marshall (L, 102-186) and James Madison (L, 62-236) in the team's first meet of the season on Oct. 1 in Radford, Va. at the Dedmon Center.

Sophomore Cheriesse Campbell led the team with a pair of second place finishes on the afternoon. Cheriesse Campbell was the runner-up in the 200 free (1:54.94) and the 500 free (5:10.10).

Sophomore Kylie Warne also had a runner-up finish for CU in placing second in the 200 IM (2:12.32). She also was CU's highest finisher in the 1,000 free (10:44.92)

Fellow sophomore Charlotte Cornet had a strong opening meet for Campbell in finishing third in the 100 (1:08.18) and the 200 breast (2:28.11).

Freshman Larissa Joassaint finished third in the 50 free and was the team's top finisher in the 100 butterfly (1:01.73).

Next, Campbell's swimming program travels to Hickory, N.C. to take on Lenoir-Rhyne at 6 pm. on Oct. 5.
