CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell's softball team (29-27, 12-9 Big South) will enter the 2012 Big South Conference Softball Tournament presented by Musco Sports Lighting and Brookwood Farms BBQ as the fourth seed. The Camels will open the tournament against Gardner-Webb (25-26, 11-10 Big South) who earned the fifth seed. The tournament begins on May 10th in Radford, Va., at Radford Softball Field. The Camels will have the first game of the day and are scheduled to play against the Runnin' Bulldogs at 9 a.m.
CU and Charleston Southern tied for third in the final Big South standings, but Charleston Southern is awarded the higher seed based on taking two of three games from Campbell in the head-to-head matchup from April 13-14 in Charleston, S.C.
Earlier this season Gardner-Webb was able to defeat CU two games to one in the season series from April 6-7 in Boiling Springs, N.C.
The winner of the Campbell/Gardner-Webb matchup will face off against the winner of Radford (32-18, 16-5 BSC)/Winthrop (16-37, 3-18 BSC), on May 11th at 11:30 a.
The loser of the Campbell/Gardner-Webb game plays an elimination game on May 10th at 7 p.m. against the loser of Radford/Winthrop.
Campbell won the Atlantic Sun Tournament two of its final four years in the league (2008 and 2009) and secured berths in the NCAA Tournament in each of those seasons. The program finished third at the A-Sun Tournament last season. This is the first year that Campbell will play in the Big South Softball Tournament since leaving the conference following the 1994 season.

#2 Seed – Coastal Carolina (38-17, 13-8 BSC)
#3 Seed – Charleston Southern (30-24, 12-9 BSC)
#4 Seed – Campbell (29-27, 12-9 BSC)
#5 Seed – Gardner-Webb (25-26, 11-10 BSC)
#6 Seed – Liberty (19-34, 9-12 BSC)
#7 Seed – Presbyterian (19-31, 8-13 BSC)
#8 Seed – Winthrop (16-37, 3-18 BSC)
