FLORENCE, S.C. – The Campbell men's tennis team opened the week with a 4-0 victory on Monday against Bethune-Cookman in Florence, S.C. Sophomore Adrien Rossignon (Arlon, Belgium), sophomore Steven Billington (Conway, Wales, U.K.) and senior David Clavera (Barcelona, Spain) earned singles wins.
Campbell (5-4, 1-0 Big South) started the match by securing the doubles point against Bethune-Cookman (5-7). Billington and senior Ondrej Kralik (Herlev, Denmark) topped Gilbert Rotich and Mortiz Pronath, 8-4, at No. 3
The duo of senior Josep Baro (Barcelona, Spain) and Clavera clinched the point at No. 2 by defeated Santiago Lobelo and Diego Garavito, 8-5.
Singles play began with a straight-set victory by Rossignon, 6-2, 6-2 against Leonardo Lima at No. 2. Earning the third point of the match was Clavera at No. 4 taking down Moriz Pronath, 6-1, 6-2.
The match was sealed by Billington at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Garavito. The rest of the matches had the Camels in the lead, but were not finished due to the tournament setup.
Campbell returns to the courts on Wednesday against Kennesaw State with the first serve set for 10 a.m. N.C. Central visits the Nisbett Tennis Center on Mar. 8 for a 1 p.m. match against the Camels.
