BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell men's tennis team returns to the James Nesbit Tennis Center on Monday at 2 p.m. following a three-match road trip with its Big South opener against Radford.
The Camels are 3-4 on the campaign with victories over Charlotte (5-2), Georgetown (3-2) and Morgan St. (3-2). Campbell fell just short in two of its matches against Elon (3-4) and at UNC Greensboro (3-4).
Junior Fernando Guillen (San Louis Potosi, Mexico) has a No. 64 ranking from the ITA after posting a 4-3 record in dual matches at No. 1.
Picking up two dual match victories so far this season has been sophomore Steven Billington (Conway, Wales, U.K.), seniors David Clavera (Barcelona, Spain) and Josep Baro (Barcelona, Spain) and freshman Rik Van Gerwen (Valkenswaard, Netherlands) for the Camels.
Last season, Campbell won its first Big South contest at Winthrop, 4-3, and will be looking to do the same against Radford. The Highlanders topped the Camels in Radford, Va., 6-1, and in the semifinals of the conference tournament, 6-1, last year.
Radford is 0-3 so far on the campaign after dropping its Big South opener at Coastal Carolina on Feb. 24, 4-3. William & Mary (1-4) and No. 67 Old Dominion (0-4) have also defeated the Highlanders.
Campbell returns to the road for three matches beginning on Mar. 2 at Gardner-Webb. The Camels host their next match at home on Mar. 8 against N.C. Central at 1 p.m.
