BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell men's and women's tennis teams go on the road to take on UNC Charlotte Saturday. First serve at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex is set for noon.

Following a 2-2 start to its season, the men's tennis team fell Thursday during a hard-fought home-opener against Elon, 4-3.

Junior Fernando Guillen (San Louis Potosi, Mexico) earned a demanding singles win at No. 1 against No.21 Cameron Silvermann, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Also in singles, sophomore Adrien Rossignon (Arlon, Belgium) produced a point for the Camels, taking a difficult second tie-breaker set, 6-4, 7-6.

The women's tennis team holds a 1-2 record for the season, besting Temple, 3-2, at the VCU Invitational Jan. 19.

Junior Karolina Chernaya (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and freshman Ewa Telenga (Gliwice, Poland)  both took singles points in the No. 1 and No. 4 spots, respectively. For their efforts, Chernaya took the Big South Conference Choice Hotels women's tennis player of the week, while Telenga grabbed the conference Crons Brand Freshman of the week title.

With the Temple contest tied, 2-2, the match came down to a decisive third set where sophomore Tamara Stanic (Budva, Montenegro) battled to a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Temples' Maame Ama Osei.

The UNC Charlotte men's tennis team is 3-3 for its season, beating Tennessee Tech 6-1 at home on January 26.

The 49ers women's tennis team has been unable to start its spring season due to inclement weather.

After the match, the Camels continue a stretch of road contests with both teams moving to play UNC Greensboro on Feb. 9. Match time is set for noon.
