CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Campbell University men's tennis team concluded its fall season today at the Carolina ITA Regional in Chapel Hill. The doubles team of Fernando Guillen and David Clavera advanced to the round of 32 after their victory on Thursday. Clavera also advanced to the round of 64 in singles play after his victory on Friday.
Clavera and Guillen knocked off Robbie Aru and Ryan Miller of Furman (8-2) in the round of 64. Their tournament run ended in the round of 32 after falling to Elons's Cameron Silverman and Eric Turner (4-8). Clavera and Guillen finished the fall season at 6-6.
In singles play, Clavera advanced to the round of 64 after knocking off Fabrice George of NC Central (6-2, 6-3) in the first round. The Barcelona, Spain native was bounced from the tournament by Dejon Bivens of Winthrop (3-6, 6-7) in the second round. Clavera compiled an overall record of 7-5 in the fall season.
Baro finished with the best record in singles play for the Camels this fall at 11-5. The duo of Kralik and Iwdal compiled the best doubles record of the fall at 9-2 including three bracket championships.
Following a short winter break, the Camels will begin the 2012 spring season Friday, January 20 at the VCU Invitational.
