PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. -- Campbell senior Vaita Guillaume shot a 6-over-par 77 on Wednesday in the second round of the NCAA Championship at Riviera Country Club.
The Big South Conference player of the year started the day on the 10th tee and made the turn at one-over-par. He birdied the par-four 10th and par-three 16th holes, but was five-over on the front side on the par-71, 7292-yard layout.
Guillaume, who finished in a 3-way tie for 1st place at the NCAA Greensboro Regional then won a one-hole playoff to advance to the NCAA Championship, is 10-over par (75-77--152) heading into Thursday's final round of medal play.
Second-ranked Alabama continues to lead the 30-team field at 4-over-par 572 (285-287). Fifth-ranked UCLA is second (289-287--576). North Florida of the Atlantic Sun Conference is fifth (581), while Big South team champion Liberty is seventh (583) through 36 holes.
