Men's Golf finishes 5th at UCF Rio Pinar Invitational

ORLANDO, FLA. – Campbell finished in fifth place after Tuesday's final round of the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational men's golf tournament.

The Fighting Camels have placed among the top five schools in each of their eight tournaments this year, including three team titles.

Wichita State (280-286-278—844) shot 10-under over the last 18 holes to win the event by four strokes over 18th-ranked Central Florida (282-284-282—848).  Florida Gulf Coast, which led the event through Monday's second round, finished third (284-279-287—850), followed by Northern Illinois (291-291-288—870) and Campbell (298-287-287—872).

Campbell senior Vaita Guillaume tied for 17th at one-under 215 (75-70-70) after playing the final 36 holes 4-under par.  Fellow senior Mitch Gray tied for 20th (73-71-71—217).

Jack Hernandez of FGCU won individual medalist honors at nine-under 207 (72-68-67).  Rafael Becker of Wichita State (69-70-69—208) was second.

Campbell sophomore Amanjyot Singh shot even-par 72 on Tuesday and tied for 28th (76-72-72—220).  Freshman Grant Houser (78-72-74—224) and sophomore Sean Goatley-Soan (74-76-74—224) tied for 46th. 

Guillaume and Singh had 42 pars in the 54-hole event, second only to Alex Medinis of Florida Gulf Coast (43).  Gray led the 86-player field in par-3 scoring (-2).

Campbell continues its spring campaign Apr. 9-10 in the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational.
