Campbell moves up to 5th after 36 holes of UCF Rio Pinar Invitational

ORLANDO, FLA. – Campbell moved up five spots into a fifth-place tie after 36 holes Monday of the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational men's golf tournament.

Campbell (298-287) started Monday's second 18 holes in 10th place, but moved into a tie with Akron (291-294--585) after shooting one-under-par in the afternoon session.

Florida Gulf Coast (284-279) was 9-under-par on the second round and leads the 15-team field at 13-under 563.  Eighteenth-ranked Central Florida (282-284) and first-round leader Wichita State (280-286) are three strokes back.

Vaita Guillaume shot two-under 70, while Amanjyot Singh and Grant Houser fired even-par 72s.  Mitch Gray carded his second-straight 73 and Sean Goatley-Soan a 2-over 74 in the second round for the Camels, who trail fourth-place Northern Illinois by three strokes.

Alex Medinis of Florida Gulf Coast leads the 86-man field at seven-under 137 (67-70) on the par-72, 7001-yard Rio Pinar Black layout.  Rafael Becker (69-70--139) of Wichita State and Jose Joia of host Central Florida (69-70--139) are tied for second on the individual leader board.

Guillaume is tied for 21st place (75-70--145), while Gray is tied for 24th at 2-over 146.  Singh is tied for 34th (76-72--148), while Houser (78-72--150) and Goatley-Soan (74-76--150) are knotted at 47th.

The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
