MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Vaita Guillaume earned his third individual title of the year and Campbell claimed team honors following Tuesday's final round of the Bash at the Beach intercollegiate men's golf tournament.
A senior from Papeete, Tahiti, Guillaume finished the 54-hole event at 7-under par 206 (69-67-70) and shared first place on the leader board with Sebastian MacLean of Xavier (72-68-66--206).
Campbell (291-285-285--861) edged second-place Gardner-Webb (288-287-287--862) by one stroke. Radford (291-291-287--869) finished third in the 15-school field.
Campbell senior Mitch Gray (74-74-70--218) and sophomore Amanjyot Singh (71-73-74--218) tied for 10th place, while freshman Grant Houser finshed in a tie for 28th (80-71-71) after he shot even-par for the final 36 holes on the par-71, 6817-yard Surf Golf and Beach Club layout.
Freshman Kurtis Straw tied for 74th place (77-76-81--234). Sophomore Sean Goatley-Soan tied for 21st place (74-73-73--220) and Harrison Ashworth tied for 79th (83-79-73--235) while playing as individuals.
Campbell's third team championship of the season followed triumph last fall at the Golfweek Program Challenge and the Kiawah Classic. Guillaume won individual honors last October at the Georgetown Intercollegiate and shared the title at the Kiawah Classic.
The Camels have finished among the top five teams in each of their seven tournaments this year, including a runner-up finish at The Big Five Invitational. Campbell continues its spring campaign next Monday and Tuesday at the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
