Men's Golf fifth after 36 holes of Arizona Intercollegiate

TUCSON, ARIZ. – Three Camels are among the top 20 individuals and Campbell sits in fifth place following 36 holes Monday of the Arizona Intercollegiate men's golf tournament.

 

Vaita Guillaume (73-68) is tied for 12th place at one-under-par 71, while Mitch Gray (76-69) and Grant Houser (71-74) are tied for 19th at plus-three 145.

 

Amanjyot Singh is tied for 29th (73-75—148) and Harrison Ashworth is tied for 41st (74-76—150) heading into Tuesday's final round on the par-71, 6900-yard Arizona National golf course.

 

A freshman from Holly Springs, N.C., Houser shot an even-par 71 in the first round that included four birdies.

 

Guillaume had six birdies in his opening round and five more in Monday's second 18 holes.

 

Gray also birdied five holes in the second round to move up 31 spots from a tie for 50th place after 18 holes.

Host Arizona (277-277—554) leads 10th-ranked California (272-284—556) by two strokes heading into the final round.  Pepperdine (286-286—572) is third, followed by New Mexico (298-285—574) and Campbell (291-286—577) in the 12-school field.
