Men's Golf in 3rd place after first round of Big Five Invitational

Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational Live Scoring

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA. – Andrew Gai is tied for sixth place and Campbell stands third on the team leader board following Saturday's first round of the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational intercollegiate men's golf tournament.

Only five players shot par, or better, on the par-70, 6600-yard Plymouth Country Club layout Saturday, including leader Ben Cooley of Pennsylvania, who fired a 3-under 67.

Brandon Park of Seton Hall and Peter Williamson of Dartmouth shot one-under-par 69 and are tied for second place, while Joe Maziar of Dartmouth and Carl Schimenti of Cornell are tied for fifth at even-par 70.

A freshman from Westport, Conn., Gai birdied the par-5, 503-yard 18th hole to finish his round at one-over 71.  Amanjyot Singh also birdied the 18th and is tied for ninth at plus-two 72.

Campbell seniors Vaita Guillaume (74) and Mitch Gray (75) are tied for 25th and 36th, respectively.  Sophomore Harrison Ashworth shot 79 and is tied for 75th place. 

Dartmouth leads the 22-school field at six-over 286, four strokes ahead of Penn (290).  Campbell (292) is third, two strokes ahead of Temple (294).
