Campbell finishes fourth at Wolfpack Intercollegiate
RALEIGH, N.C. – Vaita Guillaume and Amanjyot Singh finished among the top 10 individuals and Campbell tied for fourth place in the team standings following Tuesday's final round of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Memphis won the 16-school event at nine-over-par 861 (288-283-290), two strokes in front of UNC Greensboro (295-281-287—863) on the par-71, 7358-yard layout. Louisiana-Lafayette (289-285-292—866) was third, following by Campbell (292-283-295—870) and East Carolina (295-282-293—870) in a fourth-place tie.
Robert Hoadley of UNCG won individual honors at four-under 209 (69-68-72), two strokes ahead of Jack Belote from Memphis (69-70-72—211).
A senior from Papeete, Tahiti, Guillaume led the 88-player field in par-4 scoring (3-under) and tied for sixth place at two-over-par 215 (74-70-71). Guillaume played the final seven holes Tuesday at two-under and made four birdies on the day. He finished the 54-hole event with 9 birdies and 35 pars.
Singh's final-round 72 included three birdies and left him in a 10th-place tie at three-over 216 (74-70-72). The sophomore from Rajasthan, India made 38 pars over 3 rounds, the 5th-best mark in the field.
Freshman Andrew Gai tied for 20th place at 8-over 219 (72-69-78), while senior Mitch Gray tied for 30th (72-74-76—222). Gray tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring at 4-under. Freshman Grant Houser tied for 79th place (79-79-76—234).
Playing as an individual, sophomore Harrison Ashworth tied for 49th place (76-77-73—226) after shooting a collegiate career-low in the final round.
Campbell continues its fall schedule Saturday and Sunday at The Big Five Classic in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
