Men's Golf second after 36 holes of Coca Cola Wofford Invitational
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Vaita Guillaume is tied for the individual lead and Campbell is locked in a second-place tie in the team standings following 36 holes Monday in the Coca Cola Wofford Invitational men's golf tournament.
Richmond
leads the tournament at 13-under 563, 11 strokes ahead of Campbell
(292-282--574) and East Tennessee State (289-285--574) heading into
Tuesday's final round, which begins with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun
start. The Spiders began the day with a nine-under-par 279, tying
the tournament record for lowest team opening round score set by
Clemson in 1993.
Charleston Southern is in fourth (578) follwed by Samford (581),
Wofford (584), Gardner-Webb (585), Radford (585), Appalachian State
(585) and Longwood (590) in the 15-school event.
A junior from Papeete, Tahiti, Guillaume shot a seven-under-par 65
in the second round and is in a four-way tie atop the leader boards
at minus-five 139 (74-65). His second round score was one shot off
of the tournament record low round of 64 set by Bobby Cochran of
Florida State 1994.
Jacobo Pastor (70-69) of Charleston Southern, Kristopher Gray
(69-70) of Gardner-Webb and Mark Joye (72-67) of Wofford also stand
at five-under par after 36 holes. Campbell junior Mitch Gray is
tied for fifth at four-under 140 (71-69).
Campbell senior Matt Moot is 18th at even-par 144 (71-73) on the par-72, 6648-yard Country Club of Spartanburg layout. Aman Singh is tied for 50th (76-75--151) and Zak Drescher is tied for 57th (76-76--152).
