Campbell Finishes Third at Stetson
Invitational Men's Golf Tournament
DeLAND, FLA. – Matt McIntyre is tied for fifth place individually and Campbell finished third in the team standings Tuesday at the Stetson Invitational men's golf tournament.
McIntyre, a senior from Garland, N.C., finished three strokes off the pace of medalist Tim Acquaviva of Rollins, who finished the 54-hole tournament at one-over 217 (70-72-75) on the par-72, 6989-yard Victoria Hills Golf Club layout.
Carl Corbin of Bethune-Cookman and Dan Walters of Rollins tied for second place at plus-two 218. McIntyre, who shot a one-under 71 on Tuesday, finished the event at plus-four 220 (75-74-71).
Campbell sophomore Fredric Sundberg rebounded from a first-round 81 to finish in a tie for 11th. The Gothenburg, Sweden native was one-over par for the final 36 holes. Teammates Kyle Spahr and Isak Pettersen tied for 15th place, while Camel red-shirt freshman Mark Coppell was 17th.
Rollins won the team title with a three-round total of 875 strokes. Jacksonville (895) was second, followed by Campbell (898) in the eight-school field.
The Fighting Camels registered their third top-five finish of the fall season. Campbell returns to action Feb. 20-21 at the Charleston Southern Spring Kick-Off Classic.
