Campbell Finishes Second At Pirate Fall Intercollegiate; Sundberg Fourth Individually

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Fredric Sundberg finished fourth individually to lead Campbell to a runner-up showing in the team standings Tuesday after the final round of the Pirate Fall Intercollegiate at Bradford Creek Golf Club.

Coming off last month's victory at the Towson Fall Invitational, the Fighting Camels placed second to host East Carolina (865) following a final-round 293. Campbell's 54-hole total of 874 strokes was four better than third-place Charleston Southern in the 14-school field.

Sundberg was among four Campbell golfers who finished among the top 14 individuals. A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Sundberg shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish the event at two-under 214. He notched his second-straight top-five individual finish following last month's victory at the Towson Fall Invitational.

Campbell sophomore Isak Pettersen tied for 12th at four-over 220 after Tuesday's final-round 74. CU red-shirt freshman Mark Coppell and senior Matt McIntyre placed in a three-way tie for 14th at 221. Junior Kyle Spahr finished the event with a one-over 73 and tied for 26th.

East Carolina teammates Robin Smith and Chris Ault tied for medalist honors at five-under 211. Charleston Southern's Stuart Carrihill was third at 212, while 36-hole leader Robert Reed of Boston College dropped to a fifth-place finish following a final-round 78.

Campbell continues its fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 24-25) with the 49er Collegiate Classic at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, N.C.
