BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. ? Tim Behrendorff scored 20 points and Gardner-Webb handed Campbell an 81-69 Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball loss on Friday at the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center. Gardner-Webb (5-20, 2-10) opened the second half on a 12-3 run as Behrendorff buried a pair of threes and scored in the paint to push the margin to 52-39 with 16:13 left. The Bulldogs then pushed the advantage to 16 (55-39) on Chris Wiggins' three from the left corner with 15:01 to play. Campbell (5-18, 1-11) was able to cut the margin to seven with 5:01 left, but could get no closer. Gardner-Webb, which avenged a 76-74 loss at Campbell last month, won back-to-back games for the first time this year. Campbell dropped to 0-11 on the road this year and is winless in its last 16 games away from Carter Gym.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. ? Auburn transfer Jay Heard scored a career-high 22 points to lead Jacksonville State to a 78-66 win over Campbell on Monday at Carter Gym. Omar Barlett and Poonie Richardson added 12 points each for the Gamecocks (7-10, 5-8 Atlantic Sun), who jumped to a 22-9 lead and never trailed in the game. Heard made 9-of-15 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. Jonte' Edwards led Campbell (6-14, 4-9 A-Sun) with 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Adam Fellers scored 15 points and Campbell University held Atlantic Sun co-leader Samford scoreless in the final 3:44 of play as the Fighting Camels upset the Bulldogs 56-53 in men's basketball action on Saturday at Carter Gym. Jonte' Edwards hit a jump shot with 36 seconds to play that gave the Camels what proved to be the winning points, a 54-53 lead. Phillip Ramelli then missed the front end of a one-and-one foul shot opportunity with 15 seconds to go after Edwards was called for blocking. Edwards rebounded the miss and was fouled. Edwards missed the front end of a one-and-one with 13 seconds to go, but Tarick Johnson grabbed the rebound and kicked the ball out to Brooks Lee, who found Fellers. Green then fouled Fellers with nine seconds left and the senior hit both ends of the one-and-one chance to provide the 56-53 margin. Cornell Felton's three as time expired bounced off the rim. Fellers hit 3-of-7 three-point shots, on the night. Edward added 12 points and game-high nine rebounds. Dominique Klein scored 11 points off the Campbell bench, which outscored Samford's reserves 19-5.

Belmont Keeps A-Sun Tourney Hopes Alive With 84-67 Win at Campbell
BUIES CREEK, N.C. ? Belmont's front court of Wes Burtner, Adam Sonn and Adam Mark combined for 53 points and the Bruins kept their Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament hopes alive on Saturday with an 84-67 win at Campbell on Saturday. The Bruins (11-16, 8-12 A-Sun) need a Stetson loss vs. Florida Atlantic on Saturday night to earn the eighth, and final, seed in next week's eight-team tournament at Orlando, Fla. If Stetson wins, the Hatters would claim the berth. Campbell (8-19, 6-14) finished in 10th place in the 11-team standings. Burtner scored 23 points, including 5-of-10 shooting from three-point range. Sonn added 20 points, plus 12 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the year. Mark, who entered the game as the NCAA's leading field goal shooter at better than 71 percent, made 4-of-8 from the floor and finished with 10 points and eight boards.

Campbell Earns Road Win at Jacksonville State 84-79
JACKSONVILLE, ALA. ? Jonte' Edwards scored 20 points and Tarick Johnson came off the bench to add 19 and Campbell University earned its first road win of the year with an 84-79 triumph at Jacksonville State on Saturday. Solomon Yearby hit season-highs of 15 points and seven rebounds in his first start, while Derek Gray added 10 points for the Camels (5-12, 3-7 A-Sun). Poonie Richardson led Jacksonville State (4-9, 3-7 A-Sun) with a career-high 26 points, including 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. Jay Heard added 19 points, while Omar Barlett had 11. The Fighting Camels shot 75 percent in the second half (15-20) to build a lead and hit 11-of-14 free throws in the final 1:27 to end a nine-game road losing streak.

Big Second Half Leads Samford Past Campbell 69-55
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. -- Chris Weaver scored 22 points to lead three Bulldogs in double figures and Samford shot 68 percent from the field in the second half to defeat Campbell 69-55 in Atlantic Sun Conference basketball on Thursday. Weaver made six of his nine shots in the second half, including five of eight three pointers, to help Samford (10-7, 7-2 A-Sun) remain atop the Atlantic Sun Conference standings. After trailing 25-24 at halftime, Campbell (4-12, 2-7 A-Sun) took its only lead of the game, 34-33, at the 14:36 mark of the second half on a basket by Emory Walton. The Bulldogs responded with a 16-5 run to lead 49-39, then a pair of Weaver free throws extended their lead to 61-44 with 4:21 left in the game. Campbell got no closer than 10, as Samford outscored the Camels 44-31 in the second half.

Baker Leads Mercer Past Campbell In Overtime 88-85
MACON, GA. ? Clarence Baker scored seven of his 20 points in overtime to lift Mercer to an 88-85 win over Campbell in Atlantic Sun men's basketball action on Saturday evening at the Macon Coliseum. Mercer avenged a 77-76 overtime loss to the Camels on Jan. 2 in Buies Creek when Campbell's Adam Fellers hit a three-pointer at the buzzer. On Saturday, Fellers' 20-footer at the final horn bounced off the rim. With Campbell trailing 87-85 and 11 seconds remaining in overtime, Jonte' Edwards missed two foul shots that could have tied the game. Baker then hit the second of two free throws with seven seconds to play that accounted for the winning margin. A 13-point Camel rally in the final 2:30 of regulation sent the game into overtime. Mercer led 74-61 with 2:37 left following Jay January's bucket, but the Bears missed 4-of-6 foul shots in the last 1:57 of regulation and Edwards' bucket with two seconds remaining forced the extra period.

TROY, ALA. -- Lamayn Wilson's 24 points and 10 rebounds led four Troy State players in double figures as the Trojans men's basketball team defeat Campbell, 81-71, in an Atlantic Sun Conference game on Senior Night at Trojan Arena. The three Troy State seniors led the Trojans on their night. Wilson picked up his fifth double-double of the season, hitting 11-of-15 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc. Robert Rushing scored 18 points and dished out five assists, while Donnie Pemberton scored 10 points and pulled down three boards. 'We didn't play as well as we need to, but we got the win,' said Troy State head coach Don Maestri. 'This was an important win after a tough loss on Monday. We had to bounce back and make sure that we were playing for something on Saturday. It was also special for the seniors, who have meant a lot to this program.'

Antwan Robertson keyed a 34-8 run early in the second half and Jacksonville went on to a 67-53 victory over Campbell University in Atlantic Sun men's basketball action on Thursday night at Carter Gym. Robertson had eight of his 10 points in a 2:20 stretch during the decisive spurt for the Dolphins (11-5, 5-2 A-Sun), who won their fourth-straight road game, the first time the program has accomplished that string since the 1993-94 season. Travis Robinson came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points for Jacksonville. Kevin Sheppard added 16, while Calvin Warner also hit double figures with 10 points, plus nine rebounds. Ali Kaba pulled down a game-high 10 boards for JU, which held a 35-32 edge on the glass. Jonte' Edwards and Adam Fellers led Campbell (3-11, 1-6) with 11 points each. Fellers made his first five shots of the game, but did not score in the final 27 minutes while being limited to just two attempts by the JU defense.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. ? Adam Fellers scored a season-high 33 points and Jonte' Edwards added 22 to lift Campbell University to a 92-87 win over Atlantic Sun co-leader Florida Atlantic on Thursday night at Carter Gym. The Fighting Camels (7-16, 5-11 A-Sun) wrapped a 17-2 run around the half and led 64-42 with 14:40 remaining in the contest. Florida Atlantic (13-9, 10-5) answered with a 23-7 rally to cut the gap to 71-65 with 9:32 left. The Owls drew as close as 89-87 with 18 seconds to play on John Smart's runner in the lane, but Derek Gray hit a pair of foul shots with 17 seconds to go and FAU was unable to knock down two chances in the final seconds.

DeLand, FLA. -- Ricky McConnell tied career-highs with 22 points and 14 rebounds, but it was Ravii Givens' baseline jumper with 18 seconds left that lifted Stetson to a 72-69 victory over Campbell in an Atlantic Sun Conference game Saturday night at the Edmunds Center. Stetson (9-11, 6-8 A-Sun) wins for the fourth time in its last five games while earning a split in the season series with Campbell (6-15, 4-10 A-Sun). BUIES CREEK, N.C. ? Adam Fellers hit a leaning three-pointer at the buzzer in overtime to lift Campbell University to a 77-76 men's basketball victory over Mercer on Wednesday night at Carter Gym. The Fighting Camels ended a seven-game losing streak and improved to 3-8 on the year, 1-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Mercer (3-10, 1-3) dropped its third-straight game. Fellers hit 6 three-point field goals on the night and in the process broke the A-Sun career record for treys. He now has 278 threes in 94 games to pass the old mark of 276 set by Jonathan Pixley of Samford from 1992-97.
