BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Chuckie Looney threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another, while Atiq Lucas ran for three scores to lead Marist to a 55-28 Pioneer Football League win over Campbell Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Marist (7-3, 6-1 PFL) won its fourth-straight game by jumping to a 21-0 lead and amassing 487 yards of total offense.  Matt Tralli caught 7 passes for 77 yards and a score, while Bartley Leneghan added 5 grabs for 145 yards and two TDs.

Looney completed 15-of-24 attempts for 280 yards.  Lucas ran 29 times for 174 yards for the Red Foxes, who remain tied with Butler and San Diego atop the PFL standings.

Brian Hudson set a school Division I era (since 2008) record with 340 passing yards to lead Campbell (2-8, 1-6).  The senior QB from Stafford, Va., connected on 18-of-31 for 3 touchdowns.  DeShawn Jones led the Camels on the ground with 41 yards on 6 carries.  Jabri Ridenhour caught 6 balls for 65 yards, while Ben Bolling added 5 catches for 114 yards and scored twice, one on the ground and once through the air.

Campbell finished with 459 yards of total offense, but was flagged 11 times for 112 yards.

Marist improved to 11-0 over the last two seasons when gaining more than 400 yards in a game.   Campbell entered the game ranked eighth in the NCAA FCS in rushing (255.8), but finished with a season-low 119.  Nevertheless, the Camels established a new season team rushing record with 2421 yards through 10 games.

Campbell took the opening kick-off and drove into the Marist red zone thanks to a pass interference call in the end zone when Nick Kaszei grabbed Ridenhour.  Despite having a first down at the 13, the Camel drive stalled when a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty pushed CU out of field goal range.

Marist drove 69 yards in 8 plays and took the lead on Lucas' 10-yard run around left end.  Mike Maccarone's PAT sailed wide right leaving the Red Foxes in front 6-0 with 3:21 to play in the opening period.

Looney connected with Leneghan on completions of 23 and 33 yards to set up a first down at the two.  Lucas ran in off right tackle for the score and Duell Smith's QB sneak was the two-point conversion and Marist led 14-0 with 17 seconds left in the opening period.

After a 3-and-out and 15-yard penalty on the punt return, Marist drove 28 yards on 4 plays to push the lead to 21-0.  Looney hit Leneghan on an 11-yard slant for the score with 9:02 to play in the second.

Marist converted another short field into points when Looney found Tralli on an 11-yard scoring pass to cap a 7-play, 41-yard drive that left the Red Foxes in front 28-0 with 4:26 to go in the quarter.

On the next play from scrimmage, Hudson hit Jordan Hildreth on a 71-yard scoring pass to put the Camels on the board with 4:08 left in the opening half.

Lucas' 11-yard run and Leneghan's 67 yard catch and run left Marist ahead 41-7 after three quarters.

Bolling ran for a 10-yard score on an end around to open the fourth period and later scored on a 74-yard reception in the fourth quarter.  Hudson also scrambled and found freshman tight end Austin Fleming for a 36-yard TD in the final period.

Looney ran 17 yards for a touchdown in the fourth and connected with Craig Thompson on a 26-yard TD with 3:31 to play for the final margin.

Campbell steps outside PFL play next Saturday when the Camels travel to Old Dominion (1 p.m.).  CU closes the year Nov. 23 at in-state PFL rival Davidson.

Marist hosts Mercer next Saturday (1 p.m.) with a chance to clinch at least a share of the PFL title.
