BUIES CREEK, N.C.-The Campbell University football team will host its annual Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Barker-Lane Stadium / Ed Gore Field. Gates will open at 3:30 p.m.
"It's always exciting when our players get to meet the people that support them," said Campbell head coach Dale Steele. "It's going to be especially exciting this year because we're doing it in conjunction with our new students and our new freshman class. I think it will be an exciting time for our freshmen as they come in, and it will also be and exciting time for our football team, giving them an opportunity to meet their fellow students and get to know them."
Fans will be able to tour the entire facility, including the CU Football Fieldhouse, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Free 2012 schedule posters and cards will be available.
Players and coaches will also be available for autographs inside the fieldhouse during this time.
"We are always excited when the community gets to come into the locker room and see what it's all about, spend time with us and get to know our players," added Steele.
The event will close with a team scrimmage at 6:15 p.m., giving CU football fans their first chance to see the Camels under the new lights at Barker-Lane Stadium / Ed Gore Field.
Fans will also get their first look at the Camels' new Under Armour uniforms, which will be unveiled during the festivities.
Inflatables will be up outside for kids in attendance.
